Clinic Description
The UBC Psychology Clinic
is dedicated to advancing the highest standards of assessment, treatment,
research and training in clinical psychology. Treatment teams consist of
internationally respected supervising psychologists representing a broad range
of expertise, and graduate student therapists from the UBC Clinical Psychology
Program. Treatment services integrate the latest research on
psychotherapy, and emphasize cognitive-behavioural and interpersonal therapies.
Most services are offered in the form of individual therapy,
however, group treatment may also be offered depending on the frequency of
referrals for particular problem types.

help with:
o Anxiety Disorders

In addition, as part of an assessment course, the Clinic offers free psychological
assessments using standardized measures.
Please note: Treatment offerings may change from year to year,
depending on the supervising psychologists on our staff. The above list
describes our current treatment programs.
A sliding scale ranging
from $20-$60/session is applied to services delivered by clinic teams.
These are substantially lower than the fee scales for private Registered
Psychologists.
Treatment seekers may refer
themselves by phoning the Clinic. They will then be given an appointment for a
phone assessment. This phone screen is conducted to determine the suitability
of our services. If suitable, treatment seekers are then placed on a waiting
list to be picked up by treatment teams.
Please be aware that
because our Clinic is a highly specialized training facility, we do not have a
traditional waitlist where treatment seekers are added to the bottom and at
some point are guaranteed to reach the top of the list and receive treatment.
Instead, people are added to the waitlist and student therapists select someone
from the list who has the specific types of problems they are providing
treatment for at that particular time. For this reason, we cannot provide
estimates of how long of a wait there will be. However, regardless of whether a
person is placed on our waitlist, we try our very best to refer the people we
phone screen to other potential treatment sites.
For information about other
services in the Vancouver area, please see Information Services Vancouver's online catalogue. Your
family doctor may also have suggestions about where you can go for help.
Monday-Friday 9:15am-4:45pm. Some appointments might be scheduled outside of
these hours, depending on the treatment provider. Clients are seen during
the months of September – April. Services are usually not offered during
the summer months.
The UBC Psychology
community is dedicated to the discovery of new ways of helping people with
psychological difficulties and improving treatments that are already known to
work. Below, you will find links to research groups currently recruiting
people to participate in their treatment studies. Participants in these
studies typically receive treatment at no cost.
